Joint supplements

I've been thinking of starting Mika on a joint supplement. She's getting closer to middle-aged and her conformation isn't as good for agility as Wall-e's is. I've been considering Sashas Blend -- they say it's natural, and I've heard lots of great recommendations on it. I haven't looked into it a lot though. Right now Mika and Wall-e get a fish oil capsule once or twice a week, and digestive enzymes at one meal every day, but no kind of joint supplements.

Does anybody who's reading this use any joint supplements?

  2. I use Dasuquin. My rehab vet recommended it. She didnt sell it either. Someone did some studies and it was the only company that actually had in it what it said it did. Diana

  3. I also use Dasuquin. Not only does it had glucosamine and chondroitin it has MSM. The company uses high standard for their canine supplements. They actually use the guidelines the FDA here in the USA sets for the human grade supplements. I started Mulligan on it as a preventative a year ago. Even with his food allergies it doesn't bother him.

  4. My two started on Sasha's Blend this summer. Can't say I've noticed a difference, but then they didn't have problems to start with. It doesn't contain glucosamine or chondroitin, and a company spokesperson says those aren't necessary for dogs who are on Sasha's, but I do add a bit of g/c as well, "just in case".

  6. Hey Nat- there is no point in giving a joint supplement that doesn't contain glucosamine or chondroitin. I have tried lots of joint supplements over the years and I have to say that the ones that show the most improvement have fairly high levels of glucosamine and chondroitin.
